Today In 192: Commodus Died

Born 'to the purple' he was obsessed by, and thought himself a new Hercules, but he was seen by his contemporaries as a megalomaniac, who assassinated him. He was posthumously declared by the Senate an enemy of the state, and so subjected to damnatio memoriae.
