My latest find of incredibly-useful-tools-I-wish-someone-had-told-me-about-earlier is “Antiquity-a-la-carte“, an application developed by the Ancient World Mapping Centre which allows the user to create customised maps of any part of the classical world
I've been meaning to mention this for a while - a site that lets you customise your own maps of the ancient world. I thought of it when Sarah Bond just Tweeted this:
Map of birthplaces of popes before Francis. My only qualm with this map is that that Syrian popes are cut off a bit.
And, umm, Africa is also cut off, and most of Israel / Palestine and ... well, you get the picture. So if you want a map done right, make your own. (Or keep using the same one, and just keep moving the red arrows around in Power Point, like I do ...).
