Lusieri: Nice view of Avernus

Rare watercolours by Giovanni Battista Lusieri for sale - Telegraph

Lusieri of course worked for the King of the Two Sicilies, before Napoleon invaded, he had to flee with Ferdinand I from Naples to Sicily ... and that's where he met Lord Elgin, who took him to Athens. Sir Richard Hamilton was also there, and Nelson and ... boy would it have been interesting to be there at the time. Lady Elgin was not impressed by Emma Hamilton, and wrote some rather rude letters about her.
