A Roman 'Swiss' Army Knife

On display at the Fitzwilliam in Cambridge.

World's first Swiss Army knife revealed - made 1800 years before today's version
- The Daily Mail

Update - David Meadows de-bunks it here, and ... I gotta agree about the fork being a later invention when it comes to eating! Whoops ...

  1. Fitzwilliam's Greece & Roman galleries were closed when I got to visit Cambridge this fall. They were offering a promotional (i.e. pay for it) behind-the-scenes tour one day during my conference, and it was a huge temptation to blow off my conference and take that tour. (But since my employer was paying me to attend the conference, I figured I shouldn't...)

I do not moderate comments, but I remove spam, overt self-promotion ("read [link] my much better post on this") and what I consider hate speech (racism, homophobia etc).
