Khazar Jewish Capital? - Photos

AP has picked up on the story of the excavated city near Astrakhan which may be Itil, the capital of the Turkic Khazar kingdom that converted to Judaism around the 8th century. This story has photos of the archaeological remains - always a bonus!

I should point out that the excavator admits that he has not found any Jewish artifacts, nor any Khazar inscriptions ...
