Sufi Tombs in Bursa

Muslim laws says that tombs should be simple, often just stone slabs on the ground. Portraits are of course banned, but iconography developed to tell us about the deceased - women had flowers for each son, and hats were used to represent the rank and career of men. These mostly Sufi hats come from the cemetery by the Green Mosque at Bursa.

I do not moderate comments, but I remove spam, overt self-promotion ("read [link] my much better post on this") and what I consider hate speech (racism, homophobia etc).
